Shooting

Shooting

We use various calibre rifles ranging from sub 12ft lb air rifles up to .17 hmr rimfire during the day or for best results at night using hand held lamps or the latest night vision equipment, large numbers of rabbits can be controlled in a short space of time. Our highly skilled marksmen use sound moderators on all rifles so not to disturb neighbours or live stock. We can provide method statements and risk assessments prior to the start of any works. We have a 100% safety record.
Gassing

Gassing

Gassing can reduce a rabbit population by 80% However, due to its toxicity, Aluminium Phosphide cannot be used in certain areas such as within 10 meters of an occupied building and so should only ever be applied by trained, qualified operators using the correct application equipment. Phosphide gas in pellet form is introduced to the warren system, The pellets react with moisture in the soil and emit phosphine gas which sinks into the burrow system. All of our gassing operatives are fully trained to City and Guilds level 2 "Safe use of Aluminium Phosphide for Vertebrate control".
Ferreting

Ferreting

One of the oldest methods of rabbit control but still highly effective. Purse nets are placed over the warrens and ferrets are used to flush the rabbits out, when the rabbits attempt to escape they are held by the net until humanely dispatched. Ferreting is ideal for using in areas where using other methods of control is not safe such as next to roads and footpaths. Ferreting is best carried out between September and May when vegetation and rabbit numbers are low, but we do offer a all year service if required.
Rabbit Drop Boxes

Drop boxes

These are used in conjunction with rabbit proof fencing, the box is installed across the fence line and the rabbits use it as a path to their feeding ground, the box consists of a trap door which is activated when the rabbit passes through the tunnel dropping it into a box below the ground where it is held until removed, this is a live trap and must be checked at least once every 24 hours. They also allow for the safe release of any non-target species which are accidentally caught in the trap. Our drop boxes are built to last for 25 years and can also be secured with a padlock.
Rabbit Proof Fencing

Rabbit Proof Fencing

Rabbit proof fencing aids in the prevention of rabbit damage to crops and gardens. The use of high quality materials will ensure prevention of rabbit infiltration. At rabbit control we only use premium materials which are installed in accordance with the guidelines provided by the Woodland Trust, Forestry Commission and the BCTV.
Rabbit Long Netting

Long nets

Another traditional method of rabbit control still used today, the nets are set between the rabbits feeding ground and the warrens, they are then driven into the nets to be humanly dispatched by one of our operatives. This method of control is very discrete and silent carried out during the night, however long nets can also be used during the day whilst ferreting.
Lamping

Lamping

One of the most effective methods of control is “Lamping” which is carried out at night and requires the use of a bright light along with 0.22 lr and 0.17 hmr silenced rim-fire rifles. Air rifles can be used when noise levels need to be kept to a minimum. Large numbers of rabbits can be despatched by lamping in areas where rabbit numbers are excessive, this can be carried out effectively throughout the year.
